The first electric freight train traveled along the new electrified Mikhanovichi – Gatovo section today

Monday, 06 April 2026

The 5,300-ton train included 57 cars carrying export potash fertilizers.

The electrification of the railway section was carried out by Belarusian Railway. It should be noted that materials and equipment were primarily domestically produced (including from Brest Electrical Engineering Plant, Borisov Sleeper Impregnation Plant, Dorstroimontazhtrest, and Beltelekabel).

The electrification of Mikhanovichi-Gatovo section marked the final stage of the electrification of the Minsk railway junction.

This enabled freight trains traveling on Osipovichi-Orsha route to bypass Minsk, reducing the number of freight trains running through residential areas of the capital by 20%. This, in turn, will have a positive impact on operational performance and the environment in the region.
