A working meeting between the heads of transport agencies of the Republic of Belarus and the island nation took place on the sidelines of the International Transport and Logistics Forum.
The parties expressed mutual interest in further developing air travel. This topic was a key focus of the talks between Belarus's Minister of Transport and Communications, Aleksei Lyakhnovich, and Sri Lanka's Minister of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development, Bimala Ratnayake.
Sri Lanka is one of the most popular tourist destinations. According to the Sri Lankan Minister of Transport, approximately 10,000 Belarusian tourists visited the country in 2025. To strengthen tourism ties, he proposed establishing regular flights.
The ministers also discussed the training of specialists for the transport industry at Belarusian universities, ranging from higher education programs to advanced training courses.
