The head of “Gomelavtodor” spoke about the quality of roads in the region and plans for their repair:
"There are road sections in the region that experience significant traffic congestion. These include R-31 Bobruisk (from M-5) – Mozyr – Ukrainian border (Novaya Rudnya), R-82 Oktyabrsky – Parichi – Rechitsa, and M-10 Russian border (Selishche) – Gomel – Kobrin.
Roads R-82 and R-31 are also overloaded with transit traffic. These sections experience the greatest amount of pavement damage (potholes) after winter.
M-8 Russian border (Ezerishche) – Vitebsk – Gomel – Ukrainian border (Novaya Guta) and M-5 Minsk – Gomel roads are less subject to wear and tear. This is because M-5 is a relatively new highway capable of withstanding heavy traffic, while the latter does not have the same traffic volume”.
